VMAX Pokémon are Rising in the latest TCG Expansion!

Posted by Braysh Gaming on Feb 6, 2020

Rillaboom, Inteleon and Cinderace are about make their V card bout, but that's not all? There seems to be some VMAX Rising on the horizon, in the latest Pokémon TCG expansion!

VMAX Rising, or set code S1a, is the second Sword and Shield expansion for the TCG. Featuring 70+ new cards and available to order from Plaza Japan now, this set has your favourite Galar starter Pokémon ready to fire on all cylinders for the first time!

By that, we of course mean brand-new V cards for your Galarian starter companions, but these three Pokémon will also be given mighty VMAX cards ready to tear up the TCG with Rillaboom VMAX, Inteleon VMAX and Cinderace VMAX - all with powerful Max moves!

Rillaboom VMAX hits hard with its Max Continuous Strike! With a base power of 130+, you can choose to discard up to three Grass Energy for an additional 50 damage per Energy. That could potentially be a massive hit of 280.

Remember, unlike GX attacks, these Max moves can be used again and again. Your opponent will need to stop Rillaboom fast to stand a chance!

Inteleon VMAX ensures nowhere is safe with Max Bullet! This attack will not only hit your opponent for 160 damage, but also does 60 damage to one of your opponents benched Pokémon! What else should we expect from the 'Secret Agent' Pokémon?

Finally, Cinderace VMAX has a range of impressive attacks. Hit Cinderace hard and you'll need to watch out for its Counter!

Counter will deal the same amount of damage that was dealt to Cinderace when attacked by your oppositions Pokémon in the last turn. If that wasn't enough, there's no escape from Max Fire Ball! A huge 170 damage that also comes with a Burn!

Are these three VMAX Pokémon too hot to handle?

Let's not forget about some other V Pokémon in the roster! Galarian trio Boltund V, Sandaconda V and Dubwool V also make their TCG debut in S1a. All V cards will of course be available in the set as "SR" Full Art, whilst the VMAX cards can be found as "HR" Hyper Rare! It's yet to be revealed if this set will also have gold "UR" Pokémon, like Zacian V and Zamazenta V in the previous set.

Are we ready for some new Trainer cards? Two new Items to be exact! Abundant Bucket lets you search your deck for two Water Energy and add them to your hand, whilst Burning Scarf is a Pokémon Tool that causes any Pokémon attacking your Pokémon to become Burned. Both looks to be handy additions to your deck, and we expect they’ll get gold Ultra Rare "UR" variants!

Some more contenders for a gold UR card is the Special Energy card, Twin Energy. This card provides two Colorless Energy to a Pokémon, but just one Colorless Energy to a V or GX Pokémon. In addition, the other cards that could possibly be Ultra Rare are the first Stadium cards in the Sword and Shield era. Two iconic land landmarks from Galar, in the shape of Training Court and Turffield Stadium.

We're wrapping things up for VMAX Rising once again with Supporter cards! We're even more excited about these now as we get both "SR" Full Art and "HR" Hyper Rare versions!

It's no coincidence that Turffield Stadium has been included, as one of the new Supporters is its gym leader, Milo. Milo will let you discard up to two cards, and then draw twice the amount you discarded.

The other new Supporter is the Professor's assistant - Sonia! Sonia is a firm fan-favourite for sure, so hopefully this card will see plenty of use with its ability to let you choose two basic Pokémon or Energy from your deck and add them to your hand. Now that's handy!

Do these new VMAX cards have your interests Rising? With the new Galar starters joining the VMAX party, along with some awesome new Items and Supporters, it will be harder than ever not to dive into a few packs of this brand-new Pokémon TCG expansion! So, don't miss out, and grab your box of S1a from Plaza Japan today!
