Moon
Pokémon Trading Card Game debut - say hello to Mimikyu GX!era finally makes its
The Fairy-type Mimikyu won't have its “Disguise” busted that easily. It's GX attack "Dream Fear GX" costs just a single Fairy Energy, allowing you to shuffle one of your opponents benched Pokémon, and all cards attached to it, back into their deck!
The bench will become a very dangerous place indeed with Mimikyu around, but who else are we expecti
ng to find in SM7B? Well, for a lot of people, Mimikyu GX will be the only reason you need to grab yourself a box of Fairy Rise.
However, SM7B is a set that just keeps on giving and joining Mimikyu is a strong line-up that includes the Hoenn Grass-type starter Sceptile GX, the Psychic-type Sigilyph GX and... wait, another Alolan GX? Well, this Alolan Ninetales is akin to its secondary type - Fairy!
These four Pokémon will make up the "RR" GX's that you can find in the set, and we can't wait to see if Mimikyu and Ninetales will both look pretty-in-pink as their Fairy-typing flourishes in Secret Rare "SR" form. Of course, Sceptile and Sigilyph will become "SR" too, and as usual the Hyper Rare "HR"
versions of all four Pokémon will be set to stun.
Prism Stars have always brought something extra to the game since their introduction, and again they're back for SM7B. Thunderclap Spark introduced the first Stadium Prism Star card last time out, and here in Fairy Rise Life Forest becomes the second ever Stadium card released, and the first of two new cards introduced.
A Fairy-themed set wouldn't have been complete without the inclusion of Xerneas, and having been a GX previously, it makes sense that this Legendary Pokémon is here as a powerful Prism Star card. Don't forget, Prism Stars are so strong that you're only allowed one of each in your deck, and it's easy to see why!
Xerneas's Ability "Life Road" allows you to attach any number of Energy from your other Pokémon to it when it moves from your bench to become your active Pokémon. This means that it could deal an incredible 160 damage in the same turn it's played with its attack “Bright Horns”!
Fairy Rise also brings no shortage of Trainer cards, and six new Items! Net Ball, Adventuring Satchel and Spell Tag are all introduced for the first time, but what do these Items have to do with Fairy types? Well, not much, and that's why we also have the card Fairy Charm that comes in three different varieties! Fairy Charm (Dragon), Fairy Charm (Fighting) and Fairy Charm (Psychic) are all Pokémon Tools to be attached to your Fairy-type Pokémon. These Items prevent any damage received from the Pokémon of that respective type. Will all six Items be hidden within Fairy Rise as Secret Rare "SR" cards? For now, the Fairies are still keeping some secrets to themselves.
If you think about Fairy-type Trainers from the Sun and Moon era, then only one person will come to mind. Mina, the keeper of “Fairium Z”, is one of just two brand new Supporters here in SM7B. The other Supporter is Gym Leader Morty, from Johto's Ecruteak City, dubbed "The Mystic Seer of the Future". We won't need Morty's power of foresight to see if himself and Mina will have Full Art cards, and be given an "SR" form. These have already been confirmed - and as we have come to expect from Full Art Supporters, they are incredible!
Can your deck cope without a sprinkle of Fairy dust? Fairy Rise is proving that the likes of Mimikyu GX and Alolan Ninetales GX are here to “Play-Rough”. Coupled with brand new Trainers, such as Fairy Charm and Mina, confirms their status as a true force to be reckoned with! SM7B is an incredible Pokémon TCG expansion, with so much more to offer than just a cute exterior, so don't miss out and order from Plaza Japan today.
