About the Real Aircraft
The P-47D Thunderbolt is a large fighter aircraft developed and operated by the U.S. Army during World War II. It was equipped with the Pratt & Whitney R-2800, an 18-cylinder radial air-cooled engine generating 2,000 horsepower. Boasting a top speed of 690 km/h, it also featured an exhaust turbine. Its maiden flight was in May 1941. Continuous improvements and various types were developed through combat experiences. The D model became a representative type, with the introduction of a bubble canopy for better visibility. Over 12,000 units of the D-25 variant were produced across its versions.
