Akizuki was the flagship of the Akizuki-class air defense destroyers, equipped with four 10cm twin high-angle guns with long cruising range and high speed, long range, on a large hull as an anti-aircraft escort ship for the aircraft carrier task force.
It was commissioned in June 1942 and fought bravely in the early battles, but was sunk in the Battle of Cape Engano in October 1944.
