The Su-57 is a fifth-generation fighter developed under the "Future Combat Complex for Tactical Air Forces" program, which is the Russian Air Force's next-generation main fighter development program. It is a successor to the MiG-29 and Su-27, which are becoming obsolete. The Sukhoi proposal was adopted in 2002, and full-scale development began.
The first flight was originally scheduled for 2009, but was delayed slightly, and the first flight took place in January 2010 under the Sukhoi Design Bureau name "T-50". The shape of the aircraft that made its first flight was a large tapered wing with a swept-back angle on the leading edge of the main wing and a forward-swept angle on the trailing edge, and the angle of the side of the aircraft and the angle of the tail were the same.
In 2017, the Russian Air Force decided on the military designation Su-57.
