In total, he recorded 21 awards across 11 works in the USA and Germany. He passed away in Tuscany, Italy in 1999. Leo Lionni, whose works fuse outstanding graphics and profound philosophy, is acclaimed as the 'world's greatest picture book author', influencing many in the art field. In Japan, his works are included in textbooks, endearing him to multiple generations.
