The 209 series 500 series was first introduced on the Chuo-Sobu Line in 1998 to enhance transport capacity. It features a wider body compared to the conventional 209 series. In 2008, a total of four sets were transferred to the Keiyo Line, but in 2010, the successor E233 series 5000 series was introduced, leading to three sets being reassigned to the Musashino Line. The remaining set underwent equipment updates and continues to operate actively on the Keiyo Line.
Now available in N gauge, the 209 series 500 series, set number 34, has been the longest-serving on the Keiyo Line. Enjoy this model alongside the E233 series 5000 series and other trains you can encounter on the Uchibo and Sotobo lines.
