The 813 series was introduced as JR Kyushu's first VVVF inverter train set and began commercial operations in 1994. Manufactured over an extended period until 2009, these trains have undergone various modifications to suit different forms and usage conditions, and continue to play an active role, primarily in the Fukuoka metropolitan area. The 2200 series were modified to increase transport capacity by removing some of the convertible cross-seats or converting them into long seats, operating with a maximum of three sets combined to form a nine-car train. Recently, there have been ongoing efforts to remove instrument transformers installed around the pantograph.
Introducing a newly manufactured model of the 2200 series, which has been converted into long seats, from the 813 series by JR Kyushu, a mainstay of the line. It can be enjoyed alongside various trains running through Kyushu, such as the popular 10-1540/1541 787 series "Around the Kyushu."
