The E6 Series began operation on the Akita Shinkansen in March 2013 as a new model. When traveling between Tokyo and Morioka, it is coupled with the E5/H5 Series Shinkansen and operates at a maximum speed of 320 km/h, the highest domestic commercial speed. Due to the increase in foreign tourists carrying large luggage in recent years, modifications were made between February and August 2018 to install large luggage spaces. As a result, some windows of cars 13, 15, and 17 were sealed. Subsequently, the same modifications were made to cars 12, 14, and 16, spreading the installation work to all cars except car 11 (Green Car).
The E6 Series Shinkansen "Komachi" is now available in its latest specifications, with window sealing modifications applied to all cars except car 11. Scheduled for release in February 2025, you can enjoy the coupled operation scene as seen on actual trains between Tokyo and Sendai in conjunction with the <10-1969~1971 E5 Series Shinkansen "Hayabusa"> and <10-1967/1968 H5 Series Hokkaido Shinkansen "Hayabusa">.
