The Series 701 is a lightweight stainless steel AC suburban train with three doors and a length of 20 meters per car, designed to replace passenger trains and JNR-style train cars in the Tohoku area. Introduced in 1993, it features a VVVF inverter control system and is equipped with longitudinal seating suitable for one-man operation and ease of movement within the car. It is available in formations of two or four cars and can be adjusted in composition to meet varying transportation demands.
This release includes both four-car and two-car formations active in the Sendai area. The four-car set is designed for non-one-man operation, while the two-car set is compatible with one-man operation, featuring distinct body designs. The obstacle deflector has been updated to a more realistic shape. Each set includes a motor car and can be enjoyed in various combinations such as 2+2, 2+2+2, and 2+4, among others.
- F4-29 formation (4 cars) and F2-24 formation (2 cars) from the Sendai Vehicle Center are manufactured.

- Head/tail lights and front indicators light up on all lead cars, with a switch for turning off. Uses warm-colored LEDs.
- Equipped with hookless body-mounted close coupling. Includes electrical connector that can be attached to the front.
- The front display comes with "Sendai" pre-installed. Also includes interchangeable blank front display and destination display stickers.
- The slotless motor ensures smoother and quieter operation. Includes demagnetization plate.
- Motor carriage is set on KUMOHA701 in both sets. Features single-bogie drive, traction tires, and is DCC friendly.
- The four-car set comes in a six-car bookcase, capable of housing the two-car set.
