Description

The JR Shikoku Series 8000 is a limited express DC electric train prototype introduced by JR Shikoku in 1992. It employs a controlled natural pendulum system and consists of both non-through and through leading cars, available in five-car and three-car formations. These can operate independently or in combined five + three car formations. The mass-produced version appeared in 1993, with major interior and exterior renovations starting in 2004. Further updates and paint modifications commenced from 2023, aligning with the times while continuing to perform actively.

- Reproduces the original coloring before renovation
- Features models of the L6 and S2 formations
- Accurately replicates the distinctive exterior design featuring a non-through leading end with dynamic curves and rooftop pantograph control devices
- Lights up the head and tail lights on all leading cars. The through leading cars 8400/8200 have a switch to turn off the lights
- Uses body-mounted tight connection couplers without hooks on each car. The through leading cars come with dummy couplers. Couplers for 8400/8200 with an obstacle deflector included
- Powered cars equipped with TORAction tires
- Incorporates a slotless motor, ensuring smooth and quiet operation
- Equipped with KATO's unique car body pendulum mechanism to recreate the inward body tilt on curves, similar to the real train
- Destination display stickers are included
- Compatible with interior lighting kit Kato 11-211 (11-212)
