The JR Shikoku 8000 series is an express-type DC electric train developed by JR Shikoku, with a prototype debuting in 1992. This train adopts a controlled natural pendulum system and features both non-through and through lead cars in configurations of five-car and three-car sets. These sets can be operated independently or in a combined formation of five plus three cars. Mass production began in 1993, and from 2004, extensive interior and exterior renovations were carried out. Further updates and repainting have been conducted since 2023, allowing the train to evolve with the times while still actively operating.

- The five-car and eight-car sets’ power cars come with TORA traction tires, while the three-car set does not have traction tires, allowing for combined operations.
