The Japan Air Self-Defense Force introduced the F-35A Lightning II as a replacement for the F-4 and F-15 fighters. This fifth-generation multi-role fighter was collaboratively developed by an international consortium headed by Lockheed Martin from the United States. The F-35A is designed to undertake various missions across the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, incorporating standardization while adapting to different operational requirements. Designed primarily for the Air Force, the F-35A is the conventional takeoff and landing version, equipped with a single Pratt & Whitney F135 turbofan engine.
