About the Real Aircraft:

The P-47D Thunderbolt was a prominent fighter aircraft developed by the U.S. Army during World War II. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 18-cylinder radial engine delivering 2,000 horsepower, the strongest of its time, and included an exhaust turbine, achieving a maximum speed of 690 km/h. First flown in May 1941, it began operations on the European front in 1943. Initially serving as an escort for Allied bombers on raids from the UK to Germany, its role transitioned to ground attacks, effectively leveraging its robust build until the war's end. The D model was particularly notable, undergoing continuous enhancements, and saw its canopy design shift to a bubble type for improved visibility. The P-47M, developed in the war's latter stage, boasted enhanced engine performance, ensuring its continued effectiveness throughout the conflict.

About the Model:

This plastic model assembly kit faithfully recreates the P-47 Thunderbolt, a key fighter of the U.S. Army during World War II, in a 1/144 scale. The model captures the early Razorback version, showcasing the aircraft's form from canopy to tail authentically, reaching a length of 76mm, and conveying the toughness for which it was renowned. Parts crafted by PLATZ ensure effortless assembly through deliberate parts division, enhancing the building experience. The set includes components to construct two aircraft, amplifying the enjoyment of assembling different versions. The marking options cover four variations from the 56th Fighter Group (56FG) of the U.S. Army Air Force. Known for its ace pilots, the group flew the P-47 consistently under Colonel Hubert Zemke's command throughout the war. The squadron's aces, often dubbed "Zemke's Wolfpack," are celebrated through the meticulously crafted decals from Italy's esteemed Cartograf, ensuring a superior finish and making this a captivating collection marking kit.
