The 485 series is an express train developed by the Japanese National Railways, designed for dual use with both AC and DC, and compatible with both 50Hz and 60Hz frequencies. It followed the 481 series and 483 series, making its debut in 1968. The 1500 series for Hokkaido is characterized by its dual headlights above the driver's cab and was operated on the Sapporo-Asahikawa express "Ishikari" from 1975.
