The 205 series is a commuter-type train that debuted in 1984.
The 205 series on the Keiyo Line appeared in 1989 to coincide with the full opening of the line to Tokyo Station. A total of 12 sets of the 205 series were introduced on the Keiyo Line. While maintaining the same basic specifications as the 205 series 0 series used on other lines, the front design was completely revamped, resulting in a significant image change with the new bright red color 14.
In addition to the Keiyo Line, this train operates directly on the Sotobo and Uchibo Lines, supporting a maximum speed of 110 km/h, making it suitable for medium-distance operations. A distinctive feature of this series is the addition of an obstacle deflector, similar to other lines, over the years. From 2000 onwards, the 205 series, along with those transferred from the Yamanote Line and the 201 series, joined, creating a diverse line-up.
In 2010, the successor E233-5000 series was introduced, gradually replacing the 205 series, which were then transferred to other lines.
