Series 485 is a limited express train for both AC and DC that represents the Japanese National Railways.
The 1500s are a special cold and snow resistant type number classification for Hokkaido manufactured in 1974, and 22 cars were manufactured.
Although it was operated on the L-tokkyu "Ishikari" between Sapporo and Asahikawa, it was transferred to the Aomori Operation Center around 1980 in the form of being replaced by the 781 series due to the effects of snow that exceeded expectations.
After the opening of the Tohoku-Hokkaido Shinkansen, it was operated in the shortened "Hatsukari", "Swan" and "Inaho" between Morioka and Aomori, and demonstrated its inherent performance.
