The 14 series 500 series is a vehicle that has undergone cold and snow resistant modifications such as sliding doors for the 14 series seat car for Hokkaido.In addition to being active in express trains in Hokkaido instead of the conventional old passenger cars, it has also been used in the rapid "Kaikyo" connecting Aomori and Hakodate since 1988.
