The KIHA 47 series 0 and 1000 numbers were primarily designed for the western Japan region as vehicles equipped for warmer climates, featuring double-hung passenger windows. Vehicles owned by JR West underwent engine replacements and renovation work, resulting in significant changes to their appearance. Currently, vehicles based at the Goto General Rolling Stock Depot Okayama Railcar Depot operate on the entire Tsuyama Line, Kibi Line (Momotaro Line), and the section from Tsuyama to Chugoku-Katsuyama on the Kishin Line. 

Notably, vehicles in this area have been updated with additional jumper receptacles on the front, and since around 2017, the headlights have been replaced with white LEDs, adding a distinctive touch.
