- Noto Railway was established in 1987 as a third-sector railway company and began operations in 1988.

- The NT200 series was introduced in 2005 to replace the NT100 series, which had been in service since the railway's opening.
- The vehicle features a design where the front step section is bent inward, and the tail lights are vertically oriented.
