The H100 series is a new type of electric diesel car that began service in the spring of 2020, designed to replace the KIHA40 series remaining in various parts of Hokkaido.
From 2022, some additional vehicles featured wrapping inspired by the characteristics of different regions of Hokkaido.
These vehicles have a structure that can also be used for sightseeing, with a special interior design different from standard cars, featuring detachable tables.
These two cars are primarily used for regular trains on the Soya Line (between Asahikawa and Nayoro), the Sekihoku Line (between Asahikawa and Abashiri), the Senmou Main Line (between Abashiri and Midori), and the Furano Line (between Asahikawa and Furano). They also operate as temporary trains during peak periods.
