KIHA 20 series is a general type diesel car that appeared in 1957 by enlarging the body of KIHA 10 series. KIHA Type 22 is a vehicle specialized for extremely cold regions, such as small double-glazed windows and decking of the boarding door, and was mainly active in Hokkaido and North Tohoku.
There are many types of KIHA 22 depending on the time of manufacture, and in the early model of the 200s, the interior lighting was changed to fluorescent lighting, and the number of ventilators on the roof was changed to 7.
