The Sangi Railway WAMU 700 series was introduced with 12 units purchased from the JNR WAMU 80000 series. These were used for transporting bagged cement between Higashi-Fujiwara and Tomida from 1985 to 1996. Currently, all units have been retired and are used as storage at locations such as Hobo Station. In 2024, the WAMU 380000 series, acquired from JR Freight, was repainted in black and became WAMU 712.
