The 313 series is a suburban train that began commercial operation in 1999. This train was specifically designed to operate on various electrified lines of JR Central, featuring configurations such as train length and seating arrangements customized for each line’s requirements, making it highly flexible for operation.
The early version, the 0 series, typically consists of four-car formations featuring fixed box seats at car ends and reversible cross seats between doors. The early group 300 series is configured as a two-car formation, similar to the 0 series with fixed box seats at car ends and reversible cross seats between doors. It is primarily used as an additional car, running coupled with other 313 series in the Nagoya area and with 315 series in the Shizuoka area. The 0 series operates along the Tokaido Line (between Shizuoka and Maibara), while the 300 series is active along the Tokaido Line (between Atami and Maibara).
