The E235-1000 series is a new type of train introduced in December 2020 for the Yokosuka and Sobu lines. It is the first all-long seat passenger car for medium-distance specifications, with cross-seat cars available only in the green car class.
For the first time, a running battery has been installed, allowing it to operate autonomously in emergencies such as power outages. Due to space considerations for the emergency power supply, a notable feature is that in some MOHAE234 models, the air tanks previously installed under the floor have been relocated to the roof.
From the 2022 production year vehicles (F14 and J14 configurations), some specifications have been revised, such as the omission of the signal flame tube previously located on the roof at the front. Additionally, the front of car 11 and the additional car 1 have omitted electric couplers, with the obstacle deflector shape resembling that of the 0 series.
Currently, they are active on the Yokosuka and Sobu lines, as well as on the connecting Narita Line, Kashima Line, Sobu Main Line, Sotobo Line, and Uchibo Line.
