Nankai Electric Railway is a railway company connecting Osaka's Namba to Wakayama and Koyasan areas, as well as Kansai International Airport. Founded in December 1885, it is the oldest private railway in Japan. The 2230 model of the 2200 series was introduced in 1993 as a modified version of the 22000 series, which has been in operation since 1969 on the Nankai Koya Line. The series saw modifications such as the removal of the front gangway and electric couplers. In later years, it was adapted for one-man operation. Since its debut, it has operated on various branch lines such as the Koya Line (Shiomibashi Station to Kishinosato-Tamade Station), Takashinohama Line, Tanagawa Line, Kada Line, and Wakayama Port Line. All cars are scheduled to retire in the spring of 2025. As part of its retirement, beginning January 2025, the 2231 formation was restored to the "Oriental Green body with Emerald Green stripe" reminiscent of when it operated as the 22000 series.
-The train can be motorized to an N scale train and is compatible with TM-05R Motorized Chassis, TT-04R Trailer Conversion Kit, and Tomix 0258 Pantograph.
