- The Izu Kyuko Line is a 45.7 km railway route between Ito Station and Izukyu-Shimoda Station, which opened on December 10, 1961.
- The Izu Kyuko 8000 series were acquired from Tokyu Corporation's 8000 and 8500 series, with 45 units introduced gradually around 2004 as replacements for older cars.
- Upon introduction, modifications were made to suit the intended use.
- The body color features light blue bands reminiscent of the 100 series trains that have been active since the line's opening. Seating includes cross seats on the ocean side and bench seats on the mountain side, designed for passengers to enjoy spectacular views of the Izu east coast.
Train can be motorized to an N scale train and is compatible with TM-08R Motorized Chassis, TT-03R Trailer Conversion Kit and Tomix 0238 Pantograph.
