The 103 series 3000 series is a train modified from surplus Series 72 trains from the Senseki Line due to the electrification of the Kawagoe Line in 1985.The transformation into the 103 series involved utilizing revised spare parts from the 103 series, such as motorized bogies, and repurposed trailer bogies from decommissioned 101 series components.During the Kawagoe Line era, it operated in 3-car formations, and during peak times, it was extended to 4-car formations with the addition of SAHA103.
When the Hachiko Line between Hachioji and Komagawa was electrified in 1996, direct operation began between the Kawagoe Line and the Hachiko Line.
At this time, 4-car formations including SAHA became the standard, and the 103 series 3500, which was modified from general cars for increased service, also appeared.
From 2003, the introduction of the 205 series began, leading to a reduction in operation.
Additionally, due to the introduction of the 209 series 3100, modified from the Rinkai Line, operations were ceased in October 2005.
This product replicates the 4-car formation from the period when the train was modified with air conditioning and the connecting front windows were sealed.
- Train can be motorized to an N scale train and is compatible with TM-18 Motorized Chassis, TT-03R (for KUHA103 and SAHA103), TT-05 (for MOHA103) Trailer Conversion Kit and Tomix 0290 Pantograph.
