The Series 719-0, introduced in 1989, is an AC suburban train model by JR East. The express trains previously operated in the Sendai urban area had deck sections inside the cars and two single-leaf doors on one side of the body, which hindered smooth boarding and alighting during rush hours. Additionally, the aging of these trains became a significant issue.
As replacements, the Series 719-0 was manufactured, featuring three double-leaf doors on each side of the body. The body was made of stainless steel, allowing for flexible configurations by coupling multiple two-car sets, enabling a maximum formation of eight cars. The interior adopted cross seats referred to as "group face-to-face seats," which became a notable feature of this series.
The Series 719-0 deployed in the Sendai region operated on lines such as the Tohoku Main Line, Senzan Line, and Joban Line until its retirement in 2020. Additionally, trains operating on the Banetsu West Line were later given a unique red-and-black striped livery.
-The train can be motorized to an N scale train and is compatible with TM-14 Motorized Chassis, TT-04R Trailer Conversion Kit, and Tomix 0288 Pantograph.
