About the Real Vehicle
The Hetzer is a tank destroyer developed and produced by the Czech company BMM during World War II. Developed using many components from the 38t tank, the Hetzer featured a fixed fighting compartment with sloped armor on a compact body and was equipped with a 7.5cm Pak 39 anti-tank gun. Mass production began in 1944, and by the end of the war, 2,584 units had been produced. These were deployed to tank destroyer battalions and armored grenadier divisions, serving actively on various fronts. Following the initial production in April 1944, the type produced between May and July was referred to as the early production model, with improvements aimed at increasing productivity, such as reducing the lightening holes around the drive wheels.
About the Kit
This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit that replicates the German tank destroyer Hetzer. The kit models the early production type. The Hetzer, with a total length of about 18cm including the gun barrel, accurately recreates its unique style with a low and sharp fighting compartment surrounded by sloped armor and an offset main gun mounted to the right. Detailed features include the on-board machine gun mounted on the upper hull, the rear exhaust pipe, weld marks, and cast metal surfaces, providing an authentic finish. The drive wheels accurately capture the characteristics of the early type. Additionally, the 7.5cm gun includes a rifled aluminum barrel, with detailed parts such as the sight meticulously reproduced. The tracks use a combination of one-piece and linked sections of NEO track, making it easy to replicate natural sagging.
